Classic smooth color changing button
In this Macromedia Flash tutorial you will see how simple it is to make a stylish smooth clickable flash web button in just a few easy steps.
1.
Start by selecting the rectangle drawing tool, click the set corner radio button at the bottom of the tool box, and set the corners to 25 px.
Now make a gradient as in the image below.
And a stroke with a darker green then the gradient.
2.
Now drag a square box on the stage as in the image below.
3.
Use the gradient transform tool to rotate the gradient to vertical as in the image above.
4.
Now we want to make a reflection to the button.
So right click our shape and choose break apart, now select the fill part of the button and make a copy of it on the stage.
drag it outside so we have room to work in. select and delete the buttom part so it looks like in the image below.
5.
Now we will add a gradient to it from white to transparent, so select the shape, and go to the properties menu click the fill color and choose gradient and make a gradient as below.
Then use the gradient transform tool to rotate the gradient to vertical.
6.
Right click the reflection and choose convert to symbol, and choose movie clip.
7.
Move the reflection on to the top part of our button.
Select both the button and the reflection layer, right click and choose convert to symbol and choose button.
8.
Now double click the button to get into the buttons timeline.
Now we have defined how our button should look like when its done, but we need to change its color when the button is clicked.
So in the time line right click at the frame called down, choose insert keyframe.
9.
Select the new key frame, and we are ready the make some changes.
Now with the gradient tool make a gradient as shown below. Then with the paint bucket tool click and fill the shape with a new color. (also remember to change the stroke color to a darker what ever color you choose)
You are done, go back to the main stage at play your flash movie.
For a bit smoother effect you can give the reflection layer a blur filter. Just a bit to soften the edges.
