In this Macromedia Flash tutorial I will show you how to make a nice small text fading explotion effect in just a few easy steps.

1.
First of I made a gradient background for this effect.
Now type in the text you want to add this effect to.

Make 4 more copies of this text, select them all, right click and choose distrubute to layers.

Now you should have 5 new layers in the layers panel one for each text.

In the layers panel name them like this.

Center,left,right,top,bottom

Now in the timeline, for each layer make a new keyframe at frame 25.
Leave the center layer, we don't need to make any changes to it.
but for the left, in frame 25 move the text all the way to the left, go to the properties panel and drag its alpha down to 0.
In the time line right click between frame 1 and 25 and add a motion tween.

Repeat this step for the right,top and bottom text layers.

6.
Now you are done, I could move text shapes a bit to the sides so its not a straight motion as I did.

Test your animation effect and you should have something like mine.
